I.                   Course Description

 

            Students will work at a business concerned with horticulture for the semester and will be expected to perform the duties involved with the day to day activities of that business.   Students will complete a minimum of 120 hours at their assigned location.

 

II.                Course Objectives

 

             After completion of this course, students should have a more comprehensive understanding and grasp of the skills and knowledge required to succeed in their chosen discipline of either turf grass management or landscape management.

 

 

     

III.       Grading Policy

 

             Grading of this course will be a combined effort of the supervisor in charge of the student at the business and of the instructor.

V.                 Policies and Procedures

 

         Attendance:  Students must contact the job supervisor and the instructor prior to any absences.  Failure to do so will result in lowering of the final grade by 5 points.  Two absences without validated excuses will result in a failing grade

 

         Others:  See the current CoSCC Catalog for student responsibilities.  The last day to drop is November 4, 2004.

 

VI.    Grades

 

Grades are not mailed to students. You must access your grades through Web for Students (www.columbiastate.edu) five (5) working days after grades are required in Admissions.  Students needing official copies of grades must request it in writing from the Office of Admissions and Records. Call the transcript information line at 931/540-2550 for detailed instructions.  Students may print a copy of their grades from Web for Students.

 

Emergencies

In the case of an emergency, all students are to follow the directions given by the instructor.  All students should note the “Emergency Procedures Guide” posted in each classroom.
